Norway’s Top Model comes to Dublin!

This Friday Dublin will be host to a charity fashion event for Baby Max Wings of Love Fund, involving a Dublin based episode of Norway’s Top Model TV show.

Darina Ní Chuinneagáin & Declan Donnelly, Founders/ Directors of the Baby Max Wings Of Love Fund are organising this high profile TV fashion show and event with Designer Jennifer Rothwell to take place at the Guinness Storehouse on Friday, 16th July, 2010.

This event will be filmed for a Dublin-based episode of Norway’s Top Model TV show. The programme, which will air on Norwegian TV, follows the same format as America’s Next Top Model. The winner of a fashion catwalk task earlier in the day will take to the catwalk that night with some of Ireland’s top models at the charity fashion show, amongst them Sarah Morrissey, Sarah Mc Govern, Ruth Griffin, Yomiko Chen, Chloe Arnold, Martha Christie, Karen Fitzpatrick, Angelina Salamao, Lais Passos and Claire Keegan. All ten Norwegian models will also be present.

Guests at the event will not only get to see an amazing fashion show, but they will be in with a chance to win key designers pieces, and will receive a ‘Céad Míle Fáilte’ on arrival with complimentary food, drinks and high profile entertainment.

Vikings Invade Again!

Nine Norwegian models arrived in Dublin today to take part in ‘Norway’s Next Top Model’ and kickstart their modelling career.  An episode of the popular reality television show – based on the original American version – is being filmed in Dublin over the next three days and will air to an estimated audience of 220,000 TV viewers on Norway’s TV3 next spring. 

Tourism Ireland in the Nordic region secured this popular show for Dublin, supported by an excellent three-day programme designed by Fáilte Ireland.

Simon Gregory, Tourism Ireland’s Director of Markets, said: “We are delighted that ‘Norway’s Next Top Model’ has chosen to film in Dublin.  It is a wonderful opportunity to bring the city to the attention of thousands of potential Norwegian holidaymakers, showcasing it as a fun, modern city with a vibrant fashion scene.  TV and film are recognised as strong influencers for prospective holidaymakers and we regularly work with overseas TV and production companies to facilitate the making of travel and lifestyle programmes and films in Ireland.  The publicity value of a TV show like this is incalculable – it is a great way of promoting our tourism product to a wide audience.”

John Concannon, Director of Market Development with Fáilte Ireland, said: “The producers were looking for a chic and modern backdrop for their programme and this set us the challenge to put together an itinerary which would showcase Dublin at its most modern and cutting edge.  This is the perfect opportunity to showcase emerging Dublin and the newest part of the Docklands, which will be used for a photo-shoot of the models with Irish designer Louise Kennedy at the Grand Canal Theatre.  Over the next few days, the models will be filmed at various locations around the city including a trip to Dublin’s top visitor attraction, the Guinness Storehouse, and a fun-filled afternoon aboard the Viking Splash Tour.  Fáilte Ireland hopes that Dublin’s three days on the Norwegian catwalk will win it a lot of Scandinavian admirers.”

On Friday, the models will take part in a catwalk competition with Jennifer Rothwell and the winner will take part in a Baby Max charity fashion show that evening at the Guinness Storehouse, Ireland’s number one tourist attraction.  Alongside some of Ireland’s top models, the Norwegian hopefuls will be showcasing leading Irish designers Paul Costello and Orla Kiely, with Paddy Casey providing the after-show entertainment.

Dublin Extends Failte to Norway’s Top Models

Baby Max Wings Of Love Fund has announced that a high profile fashion show for Norwegian TV will take place at the Guinness Storehouse on Friday 16th July.

This event will be filmed for a Dublin-based episode of Norway’s Top Model
TV show. The programme, which will air on Norwegian TV, follows the same
format as America’s Next Top Model. The Norwegian models will take part in a
closed fashion catwalk task that day with surprise New York Celebrity
Stylist and Dublin-based Fashion Designer, Jennifer Rothwell, as judges.

The winner of this will take to the catwalk that night with some of Ireland’s top models at the charity fashion show, amongst them Sarah Morrissey, Yomiko Chen, Chloe Arnold, Martha
Christie and Karen Fitzpatrick. All ten Norwegian models will also be
present.

Some of Ireland’s top designers have already come on board, including Paul
Costello, Jennifer Rothwell, Orla Kiely, Mary Grant, Chesneau Luxury Bags,
Fitzpatrick’s Shoes and Rebeka Kahn Artwear! Stylist Lisa Fitzpatrick will
MC with Maire Ni Chuinneagain and Anne Morgan co ordinating the production
on the night.

This is a very exciting event and a marvellous achievement for both Fáilte
Ireland and Tourism Ireland, as the filming of this episode will showcase
both Dublin city, a vibrant modern city, the Guinness Storehouse and the
Irish fashion scene to a Norwegian audience. Tourism Ireland pitched for
this opportunity against several other European cities, and Fáilte Ireland
designed the itinerary for filming of the Dublin episode of Norway’s Top
Model.

Nine Norwegian models arrived in Dublin today to take part in ‘Norway’s Next Top Model’ and kickstart their modelling career. An episode of the popular reality television show – based on the original American version – is being filmed in Dublin over the next three days and will air to an estimated audience of 220,000 TV viewers on Norway’s TV3 next spring.

Tourism Ireland in the Nordic region secured this popular show for Dublin – against competition from several other European cities including London and Amsterdam. However, supported by an excellent three-day programme designed by Fáilte Ireland, the show’s producers chose Dublin as the best location.

The arrival of the film crew was described by Tourism Ireland’s Simon Gregory as “a wonderful opportunity to bring the city to the attention of thousands of potential Norwegian holidaymakers”.

“TV and film are recognised as strong influencers for prospective holidaymakers and we regularly work with overseas TV and production companies to facilitate the making of travel and lifestyle programmes and films in Ireland. The publicity value of a TV show like this is incalculable – it is a great way of promoting our tourism product to a wide audience.”

Fáilte Ireland’s John Concannon described how the models will be filmed at various locations around the city including a fun-filled afternoon aboard the Viking Splash Tour.
